The effect of music on programming

The effect of music on programming

Going off on a wild tangent I would like to share some of the music that I listen to while I do my programming.  A lot of times when I am developing this game I find it helpful to listen to music, other times when I really need to focus on one aspect of the game I find it helpful to work in silence.   When doing repetitive, mundane, or easy tasks I find it can actually help me to listen to music.  It seems helps my mind wander just enough to see that part of the game that I am programming as part of the bigger picture, part of the whole, and how it will work with everything else, which in turn leads to new ideas of how to make the game more enriching.

I must say, I find only a select few artist to be pleasing while programming, these are mostly in the ‘techno’ genre.  I can’t tell you why exactly, but it may have to do with the repetitiveness, deep, yet expanding rhythms.

Anyways, take a listen.  I will probably post some more at a later date.

For those who are new to this blog and the game I am developing, I feel that I should tell you now the game is not even in an alpha release.  Please feel free to take a look, but I am no where near finishing it, and I am aware of countless bugs that need to be taken care of.
